Hong Gil Dong is performing decently well in the ratings — it’s not soaring, but holding steady in its initial 15% range against the hit medical drama New Heart, which has risen with its latest episode to break the 30% mark. (Their third rival barely compares; Bulhandang [Con Man] is struggling, having sunk to nearly half its initial viewership of 9.8% to 5.5%. In fact, most press refers to the Wednesday-Thursday ratings battle as a two-way competition, leaving Bulhandang out of the equation.)
15% ratings doesn’t make the series a runaway hit, but it’s respectable, given that the numbers have stayed relatively constant throughout its run. New Heart (MBC) has the added benefit of having premiered a few weeks prior to the other two series; Hong Gil Dong (KBS2) and Bulhandang (SBS) began their runs on the same day.
Newsen reports that Hong Gil Dong is further winning audiences through its repeat broadcasts; the latest ratings numbers released by TNS Media Korea show Hong Gil Dong recording as high as 7.6% for its latest (the 14th) episode rerun. Naturally, the other series are also airing repeats, but TNS points out that Bulhandang trails there also, by a solid 2% margin.

Awesomely power pack talents of sung yu ri, kang ji hwan brings particularly brings vivid life and realistic portrayal of the role heo yi nok, hong gil dong. i never had cried and moved that much in my life it pierce my very soul. the movie plot and all was carefully meticulously crafted and handled by gifted director, screenwriter and production crew. the only drawback of the movie is the badly interpreter english sub titles in the last episode of the teleseries (episode 24) i guess they should rewrite it the way the 1st episode to the 23rd episode had made. the acting of the deposed insane king is very natural, spontaneous combustion he really knows how to start a fire in the heart of the viewers. I guess yuri ji hwan and that insane king be given ample standing ovation and awards.

Hong Gil Dong is one movie of a lifetime. I was appalled by the acting of the lesser actors and actresses including extras. there is no “camera conscious” cast, its as if they doing it the way the story has been pronounced and presented. as if they had taken seriously the role assigned to them. even the hilarious gigs are carefully handled. yuri and ji hwan are born comedians aside from being a helluba fine actors. we should not also overlook the antics of hong gil dong’s master and yi nok’s fake grandfather. they crack the pot without hitting them.
hay…dah kluar lum flm holgidong pesode br na?
